Simon Peel. Getting the Most out of SaaS with Integration as a Service.

Cloud Computing Conference - Cloud Slam 2009.
Abstract.

In this tight credit market, CIOs can cut IT capital expenditures without affecting operations by using cloud computing and SaaS solutions, both of which are budgeted as operational expenses. While SaaS offers tremendous business value with its low cost of implementation and ease of use, integrating SaaS solutions with other SaaS and on-premise applications using Integration as a Service (IaaS) unlocks the true potential of these applications and opens the door to tremendous opportunities for ISVs.

Simon Peel, SVP of Strategy at Cast Iron Systems explains how SaaS ISVs can use the cloud as part of their infrastructure to help them make the transition to SaaS. He will focus on the core integration issues companies need to be aware of as the cloud and SaaS application landscape continues to evolve rapidly.

Simon will show how Integration as a Service (IaaS) is helping SaaS providers solve the challenges of selling SaaS into the enterprise. By taking advantage of leading products, proven services methodologies, and customized sales and marketing strategies, SaaS vendors, VARs, SIs, and OEMs can eliminate the need to develop and maintain their own integration solutions and deliver low-risk, high-reward IaaS to their customers.

Simon will provide a real-world example of a customer that is using IaaS. Extra Space Storage, an operator of self-storage facilities in the U.S. , migrated six million customer records into Salesforce CRM using the Cast Iron Cloud for a virtual call-center initiative. The integration project took about three weeks from proof of concept to fully operational status.
