Michael West: Blue Skies: The Air Clears on Cloud Computing and SaaS.
Cloud Computing Conference - Cloud Slam 2009.
Abstract. The fuzziness of recent discourse concerning the Cloud Computing and SaaS phenomena has obscured the emerging ecosystem forming around these disruptive technology waves. Is this merely another Internet “gold rush” or do they represent a major transformation of the technology industry landscape? How will enterprises, large and small, take advantage of these technology waves? How will SaaS and Cloud adoption and usage differ in various regions? What services will Cloud Computing vendors offer? Saugatuck’s Four Waves and its Cloud Ecosystem Model offer the answers to these and other puzzling questions, clearing the air on Cloud Computing and SaaS. In addition, Saugatuck will share findings from its global buyer-demand survey of nearly 1800 c-level buyers, conducted a full two months after the start of the current economic crisis (Dec. ’08).
